Prayer for When Anger Takes Hold

About this prayer

A prayer for understanding and healing our anger Lord, Here I am again, wrestling with this fire burning inside my chest. This anger that feels so justified, so righteous, so… consuming. You know why I’m angry, God. You saw what they said, what they did, how they treated me. You witnessed the injustice, the betrayal, the moment when everything inside me just… snapped. I remember how even Your own Son felt anger - when He saw the temple turned into a marketplace, when He witnessed the religious leaders burden people with impossible rules while showing no mercy. Even Jesus got angry at what was wrong. But Lord, I also know that anger can become a poison that hurts me more than anyone else. It steals my sleep, clouds my judgment, and builds walls between me and the people I love. Sometimes my anger feels so big, I don’t know what to do with it. Show me, Father - is this anger pointing to something that needs to change? Is it revealing an injustice that requires action, or a boundary that’s been crossed? Or has it become something darker - pride dressed up as righteousness, fear masquerading as strength? Help me feel what You feel - Your heart that breaks over real injustice, but also…
