First minute

Settle Before You Solve Anything

Put both feet on the floor. Unclench your hands and jaw. Take three unforced breaths, letting each exhale last a little longer than the inhale. You do not need to become calm before you can be honest with God.

  • Name five things you can see and one physical sensation you can feel.
  • Notice whether you need water, food, prescribed medicine, rest, or contact with a safe person.
  • Say plainly: “I am here, this is what I feel, and I do not have to solve everything at once.”

Look back without judgment

Name Grace, Weight, and Need

Ask three questions without grading your answers: What grace can I notice? What burden is taking the most energy? What do I actually need from God or another person today?

  • Gratitude does not cancel grief. Name one good gift without pretending the hard thing is gone.
  • Use an emotion word—afraid, angry, ashamed, lonely, numb, hopeful, tired—instead of only saying “fine” or “bad.”
  • Separate what is yours to do from what is outside your control.

Look up to Jesus

Read Matthew 11:28–30 Slowly

Read the passage once for meaning and once as an invitation addressed to you. Notice the verbs: come, take, learn, find. Jesus does not demand that the burdened pretend to be strong before coming near.

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Matthew 11:28–30 KJV

Look ahead with clarity

Choose One Faithful Next Step

A faithful step should be small enough to complete, clear enough to recognize, and loving enough to move you toward truth rather than avoidance.

  • Body: drink water, eat, rest, take prescribed medication as directed, or make a health-care appointment.
  • Relationship: send one honest message, ask for prayer, apologize for one action, or set one necessary boundary.
  • Responsibility: complete the next ten-minute task instead of carrying the whole week at once.
  • Care: call 211, 988, a counselor, a doctor, or a trusted person when the need exceeds what you can carry alone.

Pray One Honest Sentence

You do not need polished words. Try: “Jesus, I am carrying ____. Help me receive Your rest and take the next faithful step of ____.” Then sit in silence for thirty seconds before moving on.
