O Lord, my God,
O Lord, my God, I come to You at the end of this day, and in the quiet, I confess a strange and hidden pain. I'm not here with a mind racing with anxiety, or a heart broken by a specific event. I'm here... and I feel numb.

O Lord, my God, I come to You at the end of this day, and in the quiet, I confess a strange and hidden pain. I'm not here with a mind racing with anxiety, or a heart broken by a specific event. I'm here... and I feel numb. My heart feels dull. My prayers today felt like an echo in an empty room. I went through the motions, but my passion for You feels distant. I am the "lukewarm" heart you warned about in Revelation, and it grieves me. My heart feels hard, Lord. And I cannot fix it. But You are the God of miracles. Your Word in Ezekiel 36:26 is my only hope tonight. You promise, "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh." Lord, I am asking for this miracle as I sleep. I cannot make my heart soft. I cannot "work up" a feeling of love for You. But You can. I am giving You my heart of stone. I am asking You to do the divine surgery that only You can. I pray like David did in Psalm 51, when he felt distant and broken.
