Psalm 147:4 KJV

Lord, the day is done.

Lord, the day is done. The noise has faded, the work is finished, and the sky has grown dark. I come to You as the one who "determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name" (Psalm 147:4). You are the God of the night just as You are the God of the day. I come to You, ready to let go of this day.

About this prayer

Lord, the day is done. The noise has faded, the work is finished, and the sky has grown dark. I come to You as the one who "determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name" (Psalm 147:4). You are the God of the night just as You are the God of the day. I come to You, ready to let go of this day. I release my regrets and failures. The words I wish I hadn't said, the things I did or failed to do—I lay them at Your feet. Your Word in 1 John 1:9 is my hope: "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." I receive that cleansing now. I will not carry this guilt into my rest, for You have separated it from me "as far as the east is from the west" (Psalm 103:12). I release my burdens and weariness. I am tired, Lord. My body, my mind, and my spirit are weary. But You are the God who gives "strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak" (Isaiah 40:29). Your own Son said, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). I come to You now. I stop striving. I exchange my exhaustion for Your peace. I will not just sleep; I will rest in You, for Your Word…
