Humility Before You

About this prayer

Heavenly Father, As this new week begins, I come before You with a heart that needs checking. You remind us in Proverbs 16:18 that “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall,” and I confess that too often I walk in my own strength rather than Yours. Lord, like the Pharisee in the temple, I can be quick to compare myself to others, thinking I am better, more capable, more deserving. But You call me to the posture of the tax collector who beat his chest and said, “God, have mercy on me, a sinner” (Luke 18:13). James 4:6 tells us that “You oppose the proud but show favor to the humble.” Father, I choose humility this morning. Help me to “in humility value others above myself” (Philippians 2:3), not from false modesty, but from a true understanding of Your grace in my life. When success comes this week, may I remember that “every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights” (James 1:17). When challenges arise, let me not lean on my own understanding, but trust in You with all my heart (Proverbs 3:5-6). Transform my heart, Lord. Replace my pride with praise, my self-reliance with surrender, my boasting with gratitude. May…
