An Evening Supplication for the Household of Faith

About this prayer

I cry unto Thee in the night season, for Thou art my rock and my fortress. The sun knoweth his going down, and the shadows of the evening are stretched out; yet, with Thee, the darkness and the light are both alike. As the labor of this week ceaseth, I bow before the Throne of Grace to make intercession for the brotherhood of believers, the sheep of Thy pasture scattered throughout the four corners of the earth. **For the Weary Soul:** Lord, look upon my fellow Christian who is heavy laden this night. Thou hast said, *"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest"* (Matthew 11:28). Let Thy peace, which passeth all understanding, keep their hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. If they be troubled on every side, let them not be distressed; if perplexed, let them not be in despair. Renew their strength as the eagle’s; let them run and not be weary; let them walk and not faint. **For the Persecuted and Afflicted:** I remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being myself also in the body.
